Mummy's Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Combine the following and simmer for 1 hour:

12 oz. can tomato paste
28 oz. can diced tomatoes
1/2 - 1 lb. groundmeat (depends on your "meatiness" preference)
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup water
1-3 cloves minced garlic or 1 tsp. garlic powder
1 T. sugar
2.5 tsp. salt (1.5 if sauce is meatless)
1.5 tsp. crushed oregano (i manually crush mine)
1 bay leaf (i usually skip this)
1/2 tsp. pepper (optional)

That's it folks. And yes, we sisters call my mom "mummy" ;)

i had a curry

that's what a british friend said to our Bible study group a few years ago, and we giggled the whole time afterwards because it just sounded funny. I miss Emma :(

anyways, I made a wonderful curry/dahl http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=4917.0the the other night, and it was *really* good, esp. considering that I'm the one that made it, lol. I honestly could eat this morning (scrambled with eggs), noon and night. Abbi gave me the recipe, as well as her leftovers, and inspired me to try to cook something new. When dh was living in Nepal, that is what he ate 24/7 "Dahl Bat" and i don't think this probably lived up to his expectations, but at least now i am brave enough to try other variations and perhaps even an authentic Nepali recipe. Me eating lentils....who'd have guessed ;-)
